I’ll try to do the puree your way. The last time I made pumpkin puree it was a few years ago. And I cut diced from the raw pumpkin. Not easy at all.

I don’t like pumpkin pie. But I’ll look at your recipe in case there is an ingredient that catch my attention. I already tried pumpkin cookies and I loved it. So maybe I can do pumpkin muffins or cake.

I did the same thing – attempting to peel and cube raw pumpkin. It sucked. I don’t think I ever actually got to the roasting part, just threw it in the bin cursing at it as my hands cramped up. But from soft, roasted pumpkin, it was so very easy.

Hmmm. The recipe today for Pumpkin Pie is pretty traditional, so you probably won’t like it. However, over this holiday season, I’ll be posting a bunch of different ways to use pumpkin puree.

Out of curiosity, what don’t you like about pumpkin pie?

I’ve tasted maybe one or two pumpkin pie and maybe it’s the nutmeg taste I don’t like. Cause I don’t like nutmeg. But I once made a zucchini pie, and didn’t add nutmeg (I used cinnamon instead). I didn’t like it also cause the taste was a little bit like pumpkin pie.

I know how you feel. I have a hard time with cloves since it’s such a strong spice. If it has a lot of cloves, I probably won’t eat it.

My recommendation is, if you don’t like nutmeg, leave it out! It won’t hurt the pie. You could also try substituting an equal amount of ground allspice for the nutmeg. Depending on what spices you used in the zucchini pie, it could also be a particular combination doesn’t work for you.

For a spicier combination that’s away from the traditional pies you didn’t like, you could try this instead of the spices as written in the post: 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground allspice, 1/4 tsp ground cardamom.

I bought 2 pumpkins tonight. One for Halloween decoration and the other one to cook something with. Maybe I’ll try to do a pumpkin pie :)

Woo! If you decide to go through with the pie, I’d love to hear how things go and if you liked it. :) Good luck!
