You're absolutely right -- it is Vietnamese-style iced coffee. I confess, there aren't many Vietnamese cafes where I live (okay, I know of three about 40 miles away), so I'm more familiar with Thai iced coffee instead. Neat filter, too!

I'd love to send you some of our summer heat (now regularly 35C and above) in exchange for that winter cold of yours! Enjoy Vietnam -- I bet the food will be incredible; certainly Tony Bourdain keeps raving about it (Vietnam is one of his favorite countries, apparently)!

Anyone who hasn't tried this doesn't know what they're missing although I know it as Vietnamese coffee. My wife brought back a Vietnamese coffee filter (e.g. http://www.howtobrewcoffee.com/Vietnamese.htm )when she was there last year and we have developed quite a taste for this way of making coffee. I have never been to Vietnam but we are going there in two weeks time and I'm look forward to tasting the real thing there. Looking forward to the warmth too - Tassie is so cold right now (by our standards at least).
